    Does llms.txt help AEO?

llms.txt is a proposed markdown file at the root of a site that summarizes it for AI models. It is cheap to add and easy to keep current. In our scoring it carries zero citation weight, because AI bots rarely request it: roughly 0.1% of AI bot requests.

    What llms.txt is

A plain markdown file with an H1, a one-line summary and lists of links to your key pages. The format is proposed at llmstxt.org and support is not standardized.

    How we score it

We keep llms.txt as a check in every diagnosis and give it zero citation weight. Fixing the live fetch on your real pages matters far more.
